Expanding on Theory

The theory that I chose to read about is called the Do-Well-Live framework. The theory is all about "What you do everyday matters". There are four main sections of this theory, the first is dimensions of experience, which organizes eight dimensions of experience in occupation, each occupation may have more than one dimension of experience and its extension may change along the life course. The second section, activity patterns includes five key concepts that are related to shaping optimal health. The third section is a range of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well being. it is influenced by the dimensions of experience and activity patterns. The last section are forces that affect activity engagement, and focuses on contextual sources. This theory can be used in child, adolescent, adults and elderly. This theory believes that "function" can be used to empower people in reflecting their patterns of activity engagement, in order to promote health and well being. When using this theory with a client, an OT might access the things that are motivating to the client, or the "clinical carrot". Some key terms associated with this theory are activity patterns, contextual forces, and engagement in activity.
